| Yavuz left Cypurs EEZ Oct 06 11:51The 'Yavuz' has left Block 6 inside Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and was near the port of Tasucu in Turkey’s Mersin province in the morning of Oct 5. The vessel had been scheduled to leave the sea area southwest of Cyprus on Oct 12. It was not immediately clear if the ship left the region for good. She began operations east of Cyprus in July 2019, after Turkey deployed it, along with the 'Fatih' to the west and east of Cyprus. The Turkish oil company’s seismic research ship Barbaros Hayreddin Pasa was conducting operations to the south of Cyprus. The government in Nicosia said on Ovt 5 that the departure of the Yavuz from Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone is a positive development, but it will take time to “better evaluate the situation.” Nicosia was also continuing to monitor the operations of the 'Barbaros' in Block 3 southeast of the island as the Navtex for the ship expires on Oct 18. Drill ship faced numerous problems Oct 23 2019 11:28The ”Yavuz,” which is violating Cyprus’ block 7 of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), has faced severe technical problems over the past several days. While the vessel attempted to conduct exploratory drillings in order to locate potential oil or natural gas reserves, it experienced numerous sudden movements which did not allow it to proceed. These jerking movements were most likely caused by problems with the drill shaft itself. The vessel apparently tried once more over the weekend of OCt 19/20, 2019, to conduct its exploratory drilling but that attempt also failed. For this reason, the vessel was forced to start all over again with a new drilling attempt on Oct 21. "Yavuz" has reached the Güzelyurt-1 well location Oct 07 2019 11:43The "Yavuz" has reached the Güzelyurt-1 well location in the Mediterranean Sea to continue oil and gas exploration activities, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez announced on Oct 5, 2019. The ship, which has begun location anchorage activities, was to start drilling as soon as possible after completing all of its preparations. The vessel will continue to work in the Mediterranean until January 2020. A second drilling vessel, the "Fatih", continued its operations in the region, the MTA Oruç Reis and the Barbaros Hayreddin Paşa seismic research ships conducted seismic surveys in the Black Sea and Marmara Sea in the past. Livorno was battered by gale-force winds when the bow moorings broke in wind speeds of 45 knots. The unloading of the containers had already been suspended due to the safety measures taken. The vessel was pushed towards the opposite wharf. The port authorities were immediately alerted and deployed tugs which got the vessel alongside the opposite berth despite some difficulties. By loosening the remaining cables, the ship could be kept under control while it drifted towards the quay. One port crane was slightly damaged when it was touched by the superstructure. | BEN NEVIS Offshore ship detained in Aberdeen Oct 06 20:30The 'Ben Nevis', after having moored in Aberdeen harbour, has been detained by authorities on Oct 6, 2020. The ship was seized by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) after it berthed at the Blaikies Quay. 10 of the 24 Indian crew members have returned home, while 14 were remaining on board. The ship was detained in order to carry out a full inspection related to the Maritime Labour Convention after concerns were raised about the welfare of the crew. Further claims were made alleging the crew was also owed between four and five months wages for work carried out from April through until August and that workers had been on board longer than their agreed contracts. The operator said work was ongoing to arrange for balance payment of crew's dues. Since June the ship has been on charter to the logistics firm Peterson UK, oil producer Dana Petroleum, as well as to Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd, the company behind the Moray East development. | GNV ALLEGRA Migrant dies after quarantine Oct 06 22:40An unaccompanied, 15 year old migrant from the Ivory Coast has dies after he had been quarantined aboard the 'GNV Allegra' for 11 days, on Oct 6 in a hospital in Palermo. He had been in a poor health state and showed signs of torture. The sailing across the Mediterranean had weakened him further. He had spent 11 days aboard the 'Open Arms'before being transferred into the ferry on sep 18. On Sep 29 he was medevaced and fell into a coma four days later. Pregnant woman medevaced Jun 10 10:53A 39-year-old pregnant woman had to be medevaced from the 'GNV Allegra'on June 9, 2020, at 3 a.m. when the birth had started. The doctor on board the ferry requested urgent health care for the woman when the ship was 3.6 miles from the Genoveses coast on its way between Tangier and Barcelona. Salvamento Maritimo deployed the Helimer 220 helicopter to take off the Moroccan citizen. At 4:25 a.m. the helicopter landed at the Almería Airport, where an ambulance was already waiting for the woman who was immediately transferred to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital to receive health care.She arrived at the center at 5 a.m. and was admitted to the pregnant station. Ferry becomes health facility for COVID 19 patients May 06 11:58The Italian Government has confirmed its support for the use of the 'GNV Allegra' which is berthed in Naples as a health facility by the Giuliano Isontino University health company to guarantee care and assistance to Covid-19 positive elderly people. This was announced by the deputy governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia to meet the needs of the Trieste area. Before chosing the 'Allegra', several options were evaluated, including the hotels in the area, the sports hall in Chiarbola; the congress center of Pier IV, the renovation of the 14th and 15th plan of Cattinara and also the use of other residential structures. However, all these solutions have not given positive results, due to the important adaptation interventions to be carried out as a matter of urgency to meet the requirements. To guarantee 168 places for six months aboard the 'Allegra', 4.2 million Euros were expected, while the conversion of the structures of Pier IV, Palachiarbola and the 14th and 15th floors of Cattinara, with an availability of only 123 beds, would have required € 7.9 million. According to estimates, the cost for each individual patient hosted on the ship will be € 96 per day, compared to € 143 per day for residential structures in the area Trieste. The 'Allegra' guarantees the possibility of graduate the offer of assistance in modules of 50 beds, up to a maximum of 180 and it also ensures the safety and the compartmentalization and also modularity and flexibility in the event that progressive and gradual expansion is necessary. The deputy governor therefore stressed that it was necessary to quickly transfer the 118 positive tested people who were in the promiscuous elderly facilities in Trieste, to which are added another 37 people awaiting discharge from the Maggiore, Salus and Sanatorium Triestino. | ECO LUX Ibiza ferry aground, breached, all people on board evacuated Oct 07 04:39Fast ferry ECO LUX, connecting Ibiza and Savina ports, Balearic islands, ran aground on Espalmador islet coast at around 2000 UTC Oct 6, while en route from Ibiza to Savina. Hull was breached, with ensuing water ingress. 12 passengers and 5 crew were evacuated to tdelivered to Savina port by an inflatable rigid boat, provided by ferry operator, BALEARIA, all people are safe. Understood ferry is aground, no danger of sinking, AIS is still on, as of morning Oct 7.
