| MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 16, 2008) The amphibious transport dock ship USS Nashville (LPD 13) opens her stern gate to allow Sailors to do some recreational fishing while the ship is in transit. Nashville is deployed with the Nassau Expeditionary Strike Group supporting maritime security and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet area of responsibility. | GULF OF THAILAND (May 8, 2008) The amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) at anchor in the Gulf of Thailand. Harpers Ferry is part of the Essex Expeditionary Strike Group and is participating in Cobra Gold 08, a joint military exercise sponsored by the United States and Thailand designed to enhance interoperability between joint U.S. forces and the combined forces of the Thai, Singaporean, Japanese and Indonesian militaries.
